What I Use to Get Late Season Shots 🏹

Published 5 months ago • 2 min read

Many of you have already got your deer this year (great job!), although if you are still out in the stand looking to fill the freezer or a buck tag, I've got a tip for you. In recent years I have been trying out a doe bleat more and more. Like all calls, you can get a wide variety of responses based on the property you use it on. So far, I have tried the doe bleat in three states, and it at least gets deer to perk up and look my way. At best, I have had deer come my way and walk right under my stand! If you want to know a little more about the doe bleat and how to use it, check out this week's featured article.

This Week's Featured Article 📰

When & How to Use the Mighty Doe Bleat

It is easy for many hunters to overlook the doe bleat in light of a grunt call, but it can actually be very useful.

The Mighty Doe Bleat! 🔊

After reading that article, you will definitely want to try out a doe bleat. The most common type of bleat call is the doe bleat can. These cans are easy to use. All you have to do is flip it upside down, put your finger on the hole on the bottom, and then flip it back over. The puck inside will make the bleat sound as it slides down. You can also get them on Amazon fairly cheap, they even have a bigger version that makes a louder bleat that can be heard farther away.

If you are the kind of hunter who likes to carry the least amount of gear, but have the greatest amount of capability, then the Extinguisher Deer Call from Deer Society is what you are going to want. It is a regular grunt tube, but it can be adjusted to make a fawn bleat. The fawn bleat works much like a regular doe bleat, but you may bring in more does than bucks. Check out this video over bleat calls and get your cooler ready for the next hunt!

How NOT to Spook Deer With Your Ground Blind

A ground blind is an awesome tool that all hunters should use at one time or another. However, if you have ever used a ground blind, you have probably had a deer or two stomp and blow at you simply because that blind wasn’t there yesterday.

How Often Should You Hunt the Same Deer Stand?

Hunters, and people in general, will find a way to disagree about almost anything. How often you should hunt from the same deer stand is no exception to that rule.

The Key to Staying Warm on a Cold Hunt

Hunting is a year-round pursuit. For many, when it comes to those cold winter months a decision has to be made on whether to brave the elements or to stay at home in front of the T.V.

That's All for Now! 😁

That is all for this week! I am working very hard on making a solid plan for 2024. The blog was hit pretty hard by Google's most recent update, so I am taking a step back and thinking more long-term for Omega Outdoors. I have some big ideas, and I am excited to work on them, and hopefully have something launched online in the coming months... no spoilers just yet, though :)

If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you. Just reply to this email.

I will see you next week!

Many of you have probably heard of the buck killed out of Kentucky/Indiana recently. There has been a bit of controversy around it. It is said to have escaped off a high fence property in Indiana, which is supposedly not far from where the hunter lives. Another claim I have seen is that the hunter killed it on the high fence property and reported it killed on his 5 acre private property. The deer does not have a tag in its ear so who knows the real truth, but do you think this buck should go...
