Possible New Whitetail Record?! 280+ inches

Published over 2 years ago • 1 min read

Many of you have probably heard of the buck killed out of Kentucky/Indiana recently. There has been a bit of controversy around it. It is said to have escaped off a high fence property in Indiana, which is supposedly not far from where the hunter lives. Another claim I have seen is that the hunter killed it on the high fence property and reported it killed on his 5 acre private property. The deer does not have a tag in its ear so who knows the real truth, but do you think this buck should go in the record books with the chance that it comes from a high fence property?

For more info, check out the Field & Stream article about it! Although be warned, they jumped the gun a little and missed a lot of the details about where this buck actually comes from.

This Weeks Hunting Tip - Make a Plan for October!

I know most of you have heard of the October lull. That's when deer stop moving as much due to the increased hunting pressure all around them. Although you can use this to your advantage! If you figure out where the most pressure is, you can use that to pick the perfect stand location.

Personally I like to use the DeerBrain Heat Maps feature. DeerBrain is a hunting app that goes along with the DeerBrain card reader I made a review on a while back. You can use those heat maps to figure out where the most hunting pressure is in a certain area and where to hunt. Get the card reader here, or watch my review video below!

Thats all I have for you today! I hope you all are doing well and have already had a chance at a deer or two this season! If you are waiting for gun season, let me know if you have any awesome trail camera pictures!

Personally I am doing well, I am just getting into the groove of things with the semester starting. It is much harder to write and keep up with my work when I have five Georgia Tech classes that always take priority.

Nonetheless, I will keep writing as much as I can and I hope you guys enjoyed this weeks email. I will see you next week, have a great day!

Many of you have already got your deer this year (great job!), although if you are still out in the stand looking to fill the freezer or a buck tag, I've got a tip for you. In recent years I have been trying out a doe bleat more and more. Like all calls, you can get a wide variety of responses based on the property you use it on. So far, I have tried the doe bleat in three states, and it at least gets deer to perk up and look my way. At best, I have had deer come my way and walk right under...
